"I am setting out to help fix an industry of fantastic creators. By funding Ceol Éireann we aim to create the many resources needed to ignite Irish music"

Dave Browne - The Black Donnelley's | Ambassador | Songwriter & Dreamer

In the early 90s Dave formed Little Sister Sage, a raggle taggle trad rock pop Irish band leaning towards fiddle, electric guitar and harmonicas. The outfit went on to win the HotPress Bacardi unplugged band of the year and also won Celtic band of the year in France.

In 2011 he went on to break the first world record for marathon guitar playing along with the help of many Dublin musicians. They played for 114 hours straight in Dublin’s Temple Bar and still hold that record today.

Moving to Las Vegas with singer/ songwriter Dave Rooney, they formed The Black Donnellys, who became the house band in RiRa Mandalay Bay Hotel. He then had the crazy idea of playing 60 gigs in 50 states in 40 days to beat the previous world record by George Thorogood 50/50/50. Along with Dave Rooney, The Black Donnellys started out on this monster adventure.

To document all this The BDs hooked up with Frequency Pictures and “An Irish story: This is my home” became a reality. The documentary received standing ovations at every film festival and won the People’s Choice Award at the Beloit International Film Festival.

Dave Rooney
